because i was very ill and had no way to get to a computer, nevertheless be able to ship the items i had sold, my account with etsy has been deactivated and i cannot sell through them until all my cases have been resolved.

although frustrating, i can imagine waiting months for a purchase to arrive only to find out that the seller is incommunicado is just as much of a nuisance.

does anyone know of any etsy alternatives that are successful so i can still sell my items while i wait until i can reopen shop?

also, i was considering trying artfire, however etsy said they would not give me access to a csv file of my listings and artfire could not transfer my listings without one.

does anyone know of anyways to get a copy of my item details even though etsy will not re-grant access to my listings?

Etsy Alternatives?

Good morning, afternoon or evening, everyone!

I am interested in potentially selling things I make/will make online, but I'm not really liking some of what Etsy has done regarding privacy issues (publishing lists of buyers, for example), so I'm wondering what other options are out there.

If you use something other than Etsy, what is the service that you use? Is your store set up on your own web domain, do you use wordpress + plug-ins to set up a storefront, or do you have an account on a site specifically for selling things?

Inquiring minds would love to know! Thank you!

information survey for crafty business-owners

Hi all!

We're doing a class project on information sharing among communities, and we picked "small crafty business owners" as our community. We just posted a very short (20 question) survey asking about how you use and share information that relates to your business. If y'all have about 5 minutes to fill it out, it's all yes/no check-box answers and no registration is required. It would help us out a bunch!

Thanks for your time!

Something Awesome that I'm Proud of!

A few months ago I set out to make some sperm earrings. I started out using Sculpey polymer clay, but I soon found out that that wasn't exactly the best clay to work with.

Someone on the Etsy forums suggested that I use porcelain clay. So, I ordered some and I started working with it the moment I got the package opened when it came two weeks later. I found it AMAZINGLY EASY to work with. It just moved and shaped the way I wanted it to right away. It dries so quickly if you're not working in a cool room with no little bowl of water to keep your hands moist, though.

Anyway, so I went to making them and was so thrilled by the outcome of them! I have one set listed on my Etsy Shop (if you want links to that, just visit my journal) and I am just so proud of them! I wanted to share them with everyone!

this is just one set, the other sets look much differentCollapse )
